First Team, our customers, and our local business friends donate hundreds of bikes and toys to Toys for Tots!
First Team Auto Mall and K92 have teamed up again this year to help bring toys to Roanoke Valley children! 2020 has been a tough year for everyone, so more than ever the First Team Family wanted to help our community as much as possible. Each year First Team donates 100 bicycles to Toys for Tots, and we’re a drop-off point for anyone wishing to make a donation. We strive to fill a 20-foot box truck with toys to bring to the Marines before Christmas. Due to the unprecedented circumstances and social distancing guidelines in place for 2020, we knew this goal would be more difficult to reach than ever to achieve. So this year we reached out to all of our local media partners, who in turn reached out to their loyal listeners, families and friends in the community to contribute bikes and other toys to the Toys for Tots toy drive.
And wow, what an incredible outpouring of support for this great cause! The Marines said there were over 18,000 toys donated, including over 700 bikes, trikes, scooters, and hoverboards – with most of those bikes coming from First Team and our friends. First Team Auto Mall is very proud to have been able to help our community collect so many toys for this year’s Toys for Tots drive as part of this amazing program. And we want to thank all of our friends in the community who went above and beyond to donate many hundreds of bikes and toys this year!
About Toys for Tots:
The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. We heartfully thank the Marines who volunteered their time to bring toys to Roanoke Valley children.
