As we moved through February, we’re eager to recognize another educator who is making a difference in the Heart of Virginia. Let’s meet our February 2024 Classroom Hero: Miss Madison Karnes.
“Classroom Hero” program is all about YOU, our viewers, nominating educators who are making a positive impact in the Heart of Virginia!
Southern Team Auto Mall encourages local ABC 13 viewers to nominate teachers monthly and let the judges do the rest as they select a winner from the submissions. Once a winner is chosen, ABC 13, along with Southern Team Auto Mall, creates a surprise celebration to honor the teachers for their immeasurable contributions. If you know of a teacher worthy of recognition, please submit their nomination here. ABC 13 asks that you be as detailed as possible to help the judges understand what sets this teacher apart from the rest and why they’re worthy of acknowledgment.
February 2024 Classroom Hero
The search for amazing teachers continues! We’re thrilled to recognize Miss Jessica Karnes, a dedicated reading specialist at Montvale Elementary School in Bedford County, as our February 2024 Classroom Hero!
Miss Karnes is a shining example of dedication, bringing eight years of teaching experience, with the last three at Montvale, to inspire a love of reading in her students.
Here at ABC 13 and Southern Values, we strive to make the Classroom Hero reveal a special moment. For the third month in a row, we decided to surprise our winner in a unique way! Instead of visiting Miss Karnes’ classroom, we brought the surprise to her!
Imagine the excitement – the entire Montvale Elementary School gathered in the gymnasium, buzzing with anticipation. And then, Miss Karnes was called forward, completely unaware of the heartwarming surprise awaiting her!
