The YOVASO Advisory Board and First Team Automotive Group need your help to continue the After Prom Grand Finale Event.

The organization relies on donations and grants to produce this life-saving event, and we’re in the running to win a $25,000 grant from State Farm Insurance. With your help, we can do it!

YOVASO Advisory Board Chair Sheila Lythgoe says, “In the past 30 years of the After Prom Grand Finale event, NONE of the participating schools have experienced the tragedy of a drug or alcohol-related driving accident on the night of their prom. This event saves lives.”

This year, over 5,251 students from 40 high schools across Southwest Virginia made the safe choice to stay until the end of their school’s after-prom party. That is more than 5,251 youth who made it home safely to their families after one of the biggest and most dangerous nights of their young lives. We estimate over 85,000 lives have been saved in the last 31 years.

To encourage participation in after-prom parties, each year First Team donates a brand-new car to the winning student. (Because First Team donates the entire cost of the car, 100% of this grant will go towards paying for the After Prom Grand Finale Event).

In order to be eligible for the car, the student must attend their school’s after-prom party and stay until the end, and be present at the After Prom Grand Finale Event. Now YOVASO and First Team are working together to get as many votes as possible to help win this important grant.

How can you help?

Starting August 14 at 12:00:01am ET, U.S. residents who are 18 and older with a valid email address can vote for the After Prom Grand Finale Event by going to:

You have until Aug. 23 at 11:59:59pm ET to rally votes!

On September 25, the top 40 vote-receiving causes will be announced and a $25,000 grant will be awarded to each of the affiliated nonprofits.

The future of the After Prom Grand Finale Event is dependent on donations and grants such as this. That’s why we are asking for your help…all we need is your votes, to reach our goal!
